Consciousness, Intelligence, and Light

Have you ever wondered what consciousness truly means? What does it really mean to be conscious? To be awake to the world inside and outside of you?

Consciousness is the information all around you. It is also called intelligence and light. This information is real, honest and raw. It has no preference, no personal agenda, and no limits. It is also the information you carry inside of you, in your DNA, in your blood and in your bones.

The second meaning of consciousness refers to the way everyone is aware and awake to the data around them. Never to be confused with the term “woke”.

How you express it verbally or through imagination, use it, and find meaning in it will shape your consciousness. It will determine the way you find your way through life. Making sense of it defines how conscious you are. The better you are at it, the more intelligent you are.

The brain and consciousness

Consciousness is like a vast, unlimited soup of intelligence that is always accessible and that your mind constantly connects to. The brain is merely the receiver of this information.

Expanding your awareness

Awareness is another word for consciousness. As your awareness expands, you use more of your brain’s capacity, and the more mental power you activate, the higher the quality of your data processing.

And yes, we are probably limited to using a tiny fraction, as little as 10 percent, of our ability to process data. We are rigid and refuse to consider new ideas.

The more different parts of the brain that connect, and fire together, to receive and process information, the more aware you become, and the better the understanding you will have. It is like putting more heads together to understand and to find solutions to life.

The trap of right or wrong thinking

Here is the first obstacle to becoming more conscious and aware: you tend to view ideas as either false or true. Seeing an idea as just another one of infinite possibilities can be a game-changer in awareness.

Different parts of the brain will suggest different possibilities to consider.

  • Listen actively to other people’s ideas, especially those of children.
  • Instead of seeking the most favourable possibility, start playing around by asking questions such as:
    • What if this is one of many possibilities?
    • What can I learn from this possibility?
    • What possibility is the most colourful, exciting, or daring to follow?

Once you are willing to take this first step, you are ready to take the first steps into the vast magnificence of your divine mind. You can then translate the raw intelligence in the field around you into useful images, stories, and metaphors. They are all packed with insights elusive to the logical mind. Then the words and ideas start to flow into a meaningful language that you can work with, using your logical mind to verbalise it rationally.

Trying to make sense of difficult ideas and situations with only 10 percent of your mind is like searching a huge, very dark area with only a tiny penlight.

Freedom of thought and mental growth

It is all about the levels of thinking, and we are constantly shifting between them. Once you unlearn how to be less fixated on your logical mind, you learn to switch fast and elegantly from the penlight to a flashlight and then to a floodlight. No one should remain stuck. Depending on what you wish to unravel, you move between different levels of thinking. But if you choose to stick to the most limited level, you will never learn how to use the others.

That is freedom of thought: growing in consciousness, and embracing the uncertainty and chaos it may bring. Exciting stuff.
